Dec 17, 2016 – Mar 25, 2017 8am-5pm Exhibition Dates
December 16 6pm-8pm Public Reception & Costume Contest
The pop art and the counterculture movements of the mid-1960s led to the rise of a new visual style, the psychedelic poster. Over thirty such posters, influenced by a combination of rock music and hallucinogenic drugs, are featured in the exhibition Technicolor Dreaming: Psychedelic Posters from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The collection includes examples from the two main series of San Francisco psychedelic concert posters and features leading American and British rock artists of the era, such as Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, and Pink Floyd.
The museum will be hosting a FREE reception for the public on December 16 and everyone is invited to come in their best 1960s/70s rock and roll costumes for a chance to win fun prizes!
Admission to the exhibition is FREE to the public. Regular museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 8am-5pm. For more information, please call (505) 599-1174 or go online at www.farmingtonmuseum.org.
